Secret to Achieving Your Goals

People who are really successful got where they are because they had goals. But in order to achieve those goals, they had to have a reason. And not just any reason. It had to be something that so drove them that they had the power to get past any and all obstacles in their way.

When you desire to buy a Rolex or mansion your conscious mind is setting goals. But if your goal is not in harmony with your subconscious mind, that goal is 90% dead in the waters. Look, over 92% of any successful activity is subconscious. Therefore if your subconscious is not in it, you have less than 8% chance of success. No wonder life seems hard for some.

The question then is, “how do you get your subconscious mind in harmony with your desires?” Before I answer that question however you must know one thing, the goal of your subconscious mind is always an emotion. Therefore, if your emotion is not in it, your subconscious is not in it. And now that you know this, you can do the following to bring your subconscious into your game:

      1. Associate your goal with a very strong, good feeling;
      2. Think and talk and act in the direction of your goal;
      3. Assume the feeling that your goal is already accomplished.

But here's the rub. If your subconscious is already against your conscious goal because of some old beliefs or way of thinking, you may find the things listed above not very easy do. You may procrastinate or notice that your actions are not in the direction of your goal. You may begin to doubt your ability to achieve the goal. You may even want to feel good about your goal, but for some strange reasons you feel fearful every time you think about that goal.

For instance, let's say a woman desires to get married but somehow doesn't feel too good about it, probably because she doesn't trust men or for some other mysterious reason. Getting her to associate the desire to get married with a very strong positive emotion may be a hell of a task!

But hey, you don't have to freak out if this applies to you. This is good. At least you're exposing the limiting belief(s) in your subconscious mind about your goal. You see, the moment you become conscious of a limiting belief, you have a great opportunity to resolve it and diminish its power over you.

However, this still begs the question, “how do you remove this apparent barrier from your road to success?” There are two methods:

      1. The direct approach: ignore the belief
      2. The indirect approach: neutralize the belief

Direct Approach

The direct approach is the one I prefer! Some may see this as denial: but no, it is not. Here's the thing, when you see what you believed as a threat and coolly ignore it, you are sending a message to your subconscious that you no longer see it as a threat.

Not many people have the courage to do this, because they would have to contend with that age-old enemy of man called fear. Funny, fear itself is not the issue but how you respond to it; the fear of fear is the problem. Fear is an emotion you can joyfully observe within you. And when you are no longer afraid of fear, it disappears.

Indirect Approach

Many prefer the indirect approach because they need not face the negative emotion: they would only need to deal with the negative belief to neutralize the negative emotion associated with it.

But one thing is sure, no matter what approach you employ to get rid of negative beliefs about your goal, when you align what you want with a positive emotion like love or gratitude, you will realize your desire.
